Great Blue Heron
Great Black-backed Gull
It was a year ago yesterday that Hurricane Sandy raked some great birds to the Great Lakes region including the lower Saginaw Bay where Myles Willard and I observed a number of them. This storm, however large, just didn't have the same impact on today's observations. Winds were all wrong as they were out of the south versus north or northeast.
David wrote regarding the Red-tailed Hawk, "Includes a dark / rufous morph individual that has now returned to winter at this site for 27 years."
