Ryan Dziedzic's Mich-Listers wrote, "The definitive highlight of today's Midland CBC was the finding of no fewer than four SNOWY OWLS in extreme southeastern Midland County. Birds were located in a variety of resting locations from telephone poles, to
mounds of earth, to the ground itself. Generally speaking, the area in which the birds were located is bordered by Sasse Road to the west, Brooks Road to the north, Smith's Crossing Road to the east and Kent Road to the south.

Monica found some great passerines while scouting for the Huron CBC on Tuesday!
Attacking Wayne & Toni's feeders on this very snowy December day!
This was the last IWMMP refuge survey for 2013. It started out slow but rapidly escalated with an incredible Mallard exodus around 10:30. They took off in a somewhat orderly fashion to give me the opportunity to more accurately count the departing numbers. Three Great Blue Herons were standing on the ice of the Shiawassee River, seemingly wondering what was going on while fourteen Sanhill Cranes flew upriver and then took a wrong turn to the north... It was a great day/way to end the IWMMP year at Shiawassee NWR!
