Where on Mackinaw did you see the Northern Harrier and the Great Horned Owl? I'm amazed that you are still seeing Snowy Owls - awesome!!! I have been seeing quite a few Red-tailed Hawks at the Bay City SRA : )
The Northern Harrier was actually seen in Midland County with the Red-tailed Hawk - both enjoying the very same thermal.
The Great-horned Owl is on a nest in a woodlot off Mackinaw Road, directly across from the Covenant building. Park in the small lot on the west side of Covenant, and look in the woods to the west, across Mackinaw. The nest is clearly visible.
The Snowy Owls were a nice surprise! I have been watching the same owl for the past couple months on the top of a few utility poles; he shows up every few mornings/evenings. I had not seen him in more than a week - then last night he was there - and had a companion two poles down! First time I've seen two Snowy Owls so close to one another.
Thank you so very much for the information; I'm anxious to investigate!
Thanks for the info on the owls. We drove up from Flint to see them...what a treat! Also headed over to Fish Point to see the many Tundra Swans and Canadian Geese on their migration.
