Jeanne writes: a Bald Eagle pair have been building a nest in a cottonwood tree on Poseyville Road, on Dow property, near the Poseyville Road bridge in Midland city. The nest is between the Tittabawassee River and Poseyville Road. For personal safety, do not stop on the shoulder of the road to observe or photograph (one can park next to one of the ball diamonds across the road and still see the nest). Remember the USFWS rules for bald eagle nests – stay 330 feet (100 meters) away from nests during breeding season – March-July so they are not disturbed which could lead to nest abandonment or egg-hatching failure.
