A drama continues to play out in a backyard pine tree where a roosting screech owl is periodically being harassed by a host of birds. Blue Jays and White-breasted Nuthatches are the principal harassers with a supporting cast of chickadees, Junjos, and goldfinch. After three hours, the screech owl is still holding its roost branch. It's too far in the interior of the pine tree to capture an image.
BUT....A new drama ensued with an adult Cooper's Hawk causing all feeder birds to explode from the area. A European Starling was an unfortunate casualty of the Cooper's Hawk foray.
Somedays, you just have to keep looking outside to see nature in action...
