The Cattle Egrets were n the midst of Great Egrets, which were noticeably larger in size. They were on the far eastern end of the beach and flew up together, along with Great Egrets, but separated and the five Cattle Egrets flew out to the CDF island where I've presumed them to have been breeding for several years.
Specifically surveyed the cattail-rich, narrow wetland along the shoreline for Soras and Virginia Rails. Carefully counted with limited tape playback.
