American Black Duck
Great Blue Heron
American Tree Sparrow
Shiawassee NWR, SA
This was my weekly IWMMP survey results with twelve waterfowl species and fourteen waterbirds in all. Non waterbirds are included.
The lone Tree Swallow flew into my scope view as I was scouring the waterfowl on an open area of water of the Shiawassee River. This was the surprise bird of the day as it was sub freezing temps with occasional snow. The first year Golden Eagle was a special sighting as well as it soared/flew into the strong westerly winds.
The temps next Sun/Mon are going to be in the low to mid 50's. This is going to set up the flooded corn stubble field on the west end of Curtis Rd for some great waterfowl potential. I can just feel it...... :)
